Cuisine American
- 1 Apple, thinly sliced using a mandoline
- a few saffron threads
- 1 cup boiling water
- sugar, to taste
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Thinly slice the apple using a mandoline. You want the slices to be soft and pliable, so they roll easily without breaking.
Place the apple slices in a bowl and add the lemon juice to help prevent oxidation.
Lay out the slices in a row, overlapping slightly. Carefully roll them from one end to the other to form a rose shape. Set aside.
Add a pinch of saffron threads to a cup and crush. Add hot water and let steep for 5 minutes until the color and aroma develop. Add sugar to taste.
Place an apple rose in your teacup. Pour hot water infused with saffron over the rose and let it bloom.
Let it steep for another minute or two, then sip slowly and enjoy the floral aroma and delicate sweetness of the apples.
