Blooming Apple Rose Saffron Tea

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Apple, thinly sliced using a mandoline
  • a few saffron threads
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • sugar, to taste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Thinly slice the apple using a mandoline. You want the slices to be soft and pliable, so they roll easily without breaking.
  • Place the apple slices in a bowl and add the lemon juice to help prevent oxidation.
  • Lay out the slices in a row, overlapping slightly. Carefully roll them from one end to the other to form a rose shape. Set aside.
  • Add a pinch of saffron threads to a cup and crush. Add hot water and let steep for 5 minutes until the color and aroma develop. Add sugar to taste.
  • Place an apple rose in your teacup. Pour hot water infused with saffron over the rose and let it bloom.
  • Let it steep for another minute or two, then sip slowly and enjoy the floral aroma and delicate sweetness of the apples.
